Never lose a bit – screw driver

May 31, 2009 By: Dexter Category: tools

Here is my latest additions to my tools, a new screw-drive with changeable bits. It contains the following bits 3 star heads and 3 regular bits, of course all of different head sizes. Now whats so great about this new tool, Well I have enough of screwdriver already with me, what impress me about this one is the the handle contains all the bits.

Now you would say that many of the other screw-drivers also contains loads of bits.

Pull the neck slightly and release it to lock the bit

Pull the neck slightly and release it to lock the bit

Well well well.. the interesting aspect about this one is that all the bits are inside the handle, and it has a rotatory cap with a pointer, all you have to do is move the cap to the required bit, point the handle downwards and the bit comes out, pull its neck once and the bit gets locked, now you are ready to get your work done.Once your work is done, point the bit upwards and pull the neck and the bit goes inside.

The interesting aspect is that since only one bit can come out at a time, and other have to remain inside, there is no possible change of losing bits from the screwdriver.

Pull back the neck to release the bit back into the handle

Its cost was around Rs.225/- INR, but is worth it. The bit are fairly easy to change, its faster than other bit screwdrivers.

Drawbacks is that since all the bits are inside the handle, it has become very thick, the weight is more, and while working it doubles are a rattle toy ;) .

Other thigh is that the length of the bits is less compared other ones and by the look of it:

All the bits are inside the handle

All the bits are inside the handle

it should not be use for very heavy duty purpose.

Overall a nice tool, will easily snuggle into you bag without the fear of the bit tearing your bag.

So with this screw driver you will never lose a bit… but probably lose it whole ;)

Ratchet Screw Driver

Had visited the Auto Expo few days ago, well could not see much of Auto Mobiles, but the expo more over looked like a auto spares/parts expo.

The only interesting stuff to look at was one of the stall having some nice tools. And could not resist myself from buying one of this interesting (space-ship type) screw-driver.

Its got a interesting stubby hold and also have a ratchet mechanism.

The multiple bits/blades (4 phillips (star) heads and 3 regular heads) coolly reside into the handle itself.

Changing the bits is very easy, as the shank is magnetic and the bits can be removed and place without any efforts.

The screw-driver also had a pivot head, allowing you to turn it in 180o. This is sometimes useful where it is difficult the put the screwdriver straight. You will end up in lots of situations while removing and adding computer drive and other stuff to your system.

The only problem with this type of stuff is the when screws are inside deep cavities as its shank is quite thick. Only useful in places where there is enough room. ;)

Kind of tool, a must have, if you have a lots of screw’s to tighten.
